A message of support and collective responsibility was delivered on April 2, 2026 by representatives of the state, political and ecclesiastical leadership, who attended the street-side fundraising drive of the Christodoula March 2026. Stopping at the kiosk outside the Bank of Cyprus (BoC) on Archbishop Makarios Avenue, they actively contributed to the work of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society, supporting a collective effort that concerns everyone.

“Today, on the streets across Cyprus, hundreds of volunteers are turning intention into action, giving real meaning to the concept of offering,” said Alekos Stamatis, President of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society. “The response from society is not simply moving, it is the strength that keeps our work alive and close to every person who needs it, particularly at a time that calls on all of us to remember the value of solidarity, love and giving.”

Michalis Shiantanis, Regional Director for Nicosia, also expressed appreciation for the support towards the initiative. “On behalf of the Bank of Cyprus, I would like to express a sincere thank you to everyone present today. Your presence and your contributions are not only financial support, but a genuine expression of compassion,” he noted. “With your contribution, you strengthen the significant work of support and hope carried out by the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society.”

The Christodoula March 2026 is now an established institution with more than 50 years of contribution to Cypriot society. The Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society supports thousands of fellow citizens, offering comprehensive palliative care services nationwide alongside their treatment.

Through the Arodaphnousa Palliative Care Centre, as well as via home medical and nursing care, psychological and social support, physiotherapy, lymphoedema management, aromatherapy and daily transport to Nicosia and Limassol oncology centres, the Society ensures patients care and dignity at every stage of their journeys.

At the same time, through the provision of palliative care, the Society places strong emphasis on prevention, promoting accurate information and strengthening awareness and understanding of cancer within society.

This year, the Christodoula March will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 3.30pm, across all cities, simultaneously.
