A martial arts instructor was sentenced to three years in prison on Friday after being found guilty of the sexual abuse of a child.

The Law Office will now be examining the Nicosia criminal court ruling to decide whether to appeal the sentence for being inadequate.

The man was convicted for eight cases of touching and fondling a child between 2019 and 2021, abusing the bond of trust between child and instructor.

The court ordered that the man be observed during his sentence and a further two years after his release.
