Six people arrested during nationwide operations on Sunday night aimed at tackling crime and public offences, police reported on Monday.

The arrests were made for burglary, theft, knife possession and various traffic violations.

During the operation, officers stopped 528 vehicles and checked 709 drivers and passengers.

Police carried out inspections of premises, which led to nine complaints over breaches of operating permits.

Traffic checks resulted in 389 fines, with 187 issued for speeding. A total of 105 alcohol tests were conducted, with four drivers testing positive.

Three people tested positive in preliminary drug test. Seven vehicles were seized as part of the checks.

Such operations continue daily, police said, with increased presence, targeted inspections and immediate action.

Authorities aim to prevent crime, protect the public and strengthen the sense of security across Cyprus.
