Restoration works have been completed at the chapel of Ayios Ioannis Prodromos in Neo Chorio Kythreas on Monday, a site dating back to the mid-17th century.

The project was carried out with financial support from the European Union and the local community, while technical assistance was provided by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot conservators, architects, engineers and builders worked together on the project to preserve the historic chapel.

Technical committee on cultural heritage co-chairman Sotos Ktoris thanked those involved for their contribution to safeguarding the island’s cultural heritage through bicommunal cooperation.
