The National Guard will hold a planned military exercise on the Akamas peninsula on Thursday as part of its tactical training programme.

The drill will run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and will involve military vehicles, helicopters and infantry units.

Authorities said the exercise is part of routine operational training and there is no cause for concern.

The public have been asked to show understanding and follow any instructions issued during the exercise.

Weapons activity is expected to be visible in parts of the peninsula throughout the day.

Residents and visitors are advised to remain calm.
