Renowned Palestinian journalist Plestia Alaqad is to visit Cyprus next month and give a talk at Famagusta’s Eastern Mediterranean University, where she studied.

Alaqad shot to fame in 2023 with her daily on-the-ground coverage of the Gaza war via social media, before writing for the likes of British newspaper the Guardian and news website ITV.

With the war intensifying, she eventually fled to Egypt, before relocating to Australia, where she wrote a book, titled, The Eyes of Gaza: A Diary of Resilience.

She graduated from the Eastern Mediterranean University in 2022, and will return to give a talk at the university on Monday, at the campus’ Mustafa Afsin Ersoy hall, at 11.30am.
