A 22-year-old man was arrested in Paphos on Saturday night for a series of offences, including possession of offensive weapons and explosive materials, police said.
According to the police, the incident occurred at around 9.15pm when members of the traffic police stopped a car driven by the suspect.
The vehicle was found to be missing a front registration plate, while its windows were heavily tinted.
A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered two knives, a wooden bat, a number of hunting cartridges and a magazine containing military ammunition.
Police added that a full military cartridge was also found on the suspect’s person during a body search.
The 22-year-old was arrested on the spot for evident offences including carrying knives, illegal possession and transport of offensive weapons, and unlawful possession and transport of explosive materials.
He was brought before the Paphos district court on Sunday, which issued a one-day remand order.
