A month before the parliamentary elections and just a day before the House dissolves, Disy leader Annita Demetriou has urged people to exercise their right to vote by scrutinising the ballot papers and choosing those candidates that could best represent them for the next five years.

The outgoing House president said future MPs would need to “rise to the occasion, stand against populism, extremism and easy promises” and “take the right decisions for the country”.

The elections will be held on May 24. On Thursday, the House dissolves and on May 6 prospective MPs officially submit their candidacies.

Demetriou said Disy was entering the race with a “serious, clean, capable and effective” team of candidates.
