Two people were arrested in Paphos on Tuesday, one for possession of drugs and the other – found in the former’s house – for residing in Cyprus illegally.

The police pulled over a vehicle in Paphos on Tuesday, driven by a 27-year-old man with a 33-year-old female passenger.

During inspections, the police found 6g of cannabis, 1g of what appeared to be cocaine and 1g of a substance that may be methamphetamine.

The man, who claimed the substances were his, was arrested.

The police also found a sum in cash, which was confiscated as evidence.

The man’s home was then searched. Two unknown people were inside, one of whom managed to flee before inspection.

The second individual, a 28-year-old man, was found to be residing in Cyprus illegally and was arrested.

The police also found a locked room, for which the 27-year-old held the keys.

Inside, the police found 14g of cannabis, 40g of what appeared to be synthetic cannabis and precision scales with traces of cannabis.

The man will be taken before the Paphos district court on Wednesday for a remand order.

Police investigations are ongoing.
