World football’s governing body Fifa has enforced a transfer ban on Anorthosis Famagusta FC following a successful claim by one of their former players.

The disciplinary action follows the successful legal proceedings brought forward by Waris Majeed regarding significant unpaid remuneration.

Majeed, represented by his agent Nana Sechere, pursued the case through the appropriate legal channels after the club repeatedly failed to honour its contractual financial obligations during his tenure.

The ruling by Fifa validates the player’s claims and underscores the governing body’s commitment to ensuring that clubs adhere to their contractual agreements with players. The transfer ban will remain in effect until the outstanding debts owed to Majeed are fully settled in accordance with the Fifa decision.

“We are pleased with the outcome of this case and Fifa’s decisive action,” Sechere said. “Players dedicate their careers to their clubs, and it is fundamental that their contractual rights are respected. This ruling sends a clear message that the non-payment of salaries will not be tolerated.

“Majeed remains focused on his career and is grateful for the support he has received throughout this process.”
