A 21-year-old man died on Monday night after sustaining critical injuries in a traffic accident in Limassol last week.

According to a statement issued by the police on Tuesday, Angelos Kombos, from Limassol, had been hospitalised in a critical condition following the crash last Friday and succumbed to his injuries at around 10.30pm.

Police said he had been travelling as a passenger on a motorcycle driven by a 23-year-old when, under circumstances still under investigation, the vehicle collided with the rear of a car driven by a 20-year-old.

Authorities said both the rider and passenger were not wearing protective helmets at the time of the collision.
