President Nicos Anastasiades on Tuesday will convene a meeting with the negotiating team for the Cyprus problem, ahead of a national council meeting the following day.

In the two meetings, the president will brief participants on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue, as well as the proposal he submitted to the Turkish Cypriot leader, Ersin Tatar, a written statement by Government Spokesman Marios Pelekanos said which was issued on Friday.

The president also called on the political parties to refrain from making any statements prior to the meetings regarding the proposal to “avoid unnecessary controversy”.
