Ayia Napa police on Friday said they are investigating two men, aged 48 and 50, for the illegal employment of foreign workers.

Police said that during checks at a bar in the town around 1.30am on Friday, immigration officers found a 23-year-old third country national working in the establishment without a permit from the competent authority.

The young man, found to be residing on the island legally, was taken to the local police station where he was charged in writing and then released.

A case of illegal employment is being investigated against his 48-year-old employer.

Another man, aged 28, was found working illegally at a pub half an hour after midnight on Thursday, police added. He was also charged in writing after it was found he was residing in the country legally.

Police said the 50-year-old employer of the 28-year-old is being investigated for illegal employment.
