Extensive damage was caused to a holiday home and two immobilised vehicles after a fire broke out in the Nicosia district, the fire service said early on Saturday.
The fire appears to have started by burning of dry grass in the area, fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis said.
It broke out a few minutes before 7am on Saturday between the villages of Analiontas and Kapedes in dry grass, wild vegetation and pine trees.
Ten fire engines from the forestry department and three from the fire service’s stations in Nicosia were at the scene. The blaze was put out by 9am after it burned an area of one square kilometre.
Kettis said the fire caused extensive damage to a holiday house and two vehicles that have been immobilised.
The fire service in cooperation with the police are investigating the exact causes of the fire.
