The two defendants in the Potamia case, a 37-year-old and a 39-year-old, will face trial on March 18.
The case was filed on Wednesday before the Nicosia district court, and the two will remain in detention until the trial begins.

A decision was made not to prosecute the police officers engaged in the event.

According to a police statement, the two suspects are charged with attempted murder, migrant smuggling, conduct meant to cause grievous bodily damage or impede arrest, and conspiracy to commit a felony.

The case was sent to the Nicosia permanent criminal court, and the two suspects were ordered to remain in detention until the hearings begin on March 18.

Shoaib Khan, 24, was found dead in the Nicosia suburb of Strovolos on January 6, but was among a group of third-country nationals attempting to cross the buffer zone in the village of Potamia during an incident in which police said they fired four shots at two vehicles as the group attempted to flee. One of the shots was the one that led to the death of Khan.
