The UK government has updated its travel advice for Cyprus, saying that recent Israeli security concerns regarding Paphos airport have not affected UK flights.
The update, issued on January 29 and still valid as of February 1, reflects guidance from the foreign office.
The Foreign Office’s webpage states that Israel has directed all its Cyprus-bound flights from Paphos airport to Larnaca airport. This change has been made for security purposes, it said, but added that UK flights have not been affected.
“Although there’s no recent history of terrorism in Cyprus, attacks cannot be ruled out. Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places visited by foreign nationals. Israel is directing all its Cyprus-bound flights to Larnaca Airport for security reasons. UK flights are not currently affected by this change,” the UK Foreign Office said.
Travellers to Cyprus are advised to stay informed of the latest developments and follow any local advice regarding security.
