The education ministry has launched the third edition of the CyGraduates National Survey, aiming to enhance the connection between higher education in Cyprus and the job market. The survey is part of the “Development of a national graduate tracking mechanism and employers’ skills survey” project, which falls under the Cyprus recovery and resilience plan.

The CyGraduates survey gathers important long-term data about how graduates from Cypriot higher education institutions enter the workforce, their university experiences, the skills they acquired, and how well their programmes of study align with job market needs. The data collected will also help identify any gaps between education and employment, ultimately assisting in shaping future educational policies.

This year’s survey includes graduates from the academic years 2018-2019 and 2022-2023. Participants include alumni from all higher education institutions in Cyprus, no matter their study programme or format, whether full-time, part-time, or distance learning. Graduates of all nationalities, both within Cyprus and abroad, are invited to take part.

Data will be collected between January and March via an online questionnaire. Participants can access the survey through a personal link sent by email or SMS or visit the project’s website directly. Filling out the questionnaire takes about 10 to 12 minutes.

In return for their participation, graduates will receive a small gift and be entered into a prize draw to win bigger rewards, such as flight tickets, hotel stays, and gift vouchers.

The participation of graduates is vital for improving higher education in Cyprus. By taking part, graduates help universities better understand the needs of the workforce and adjust their programmes accordingly.

The data will also help shape policies that enhance the connection between education and employment, providing graduates with the skills and knowledge employers are looking for.

The results of the survey will be made public, offering insights into the latest trends in both the job market and higher education. Graduates can follow the progress of the survey and access its results through the project’s social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram.
