A person was rescued and taken to Larnaca general hospital after a two-car crash on Egypt avenue, Larnaca, on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire service responded swiftly, dispatching a rescue team and a fire engine to the scene at 15:52. According to fire service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, firefighters had to use specialist rescue equipment to free a person trapped inside one of the vehicles.

Once extricated, the injured individual was handed over to paramedics from the ambulance service for urgent transfer to the hospital’s accident and emergency department.

Authorities have not released details on the severity of the injuries or the cause of the collision. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
