Four concerts are on Paphos’ cultural agenda organised by Technopolis 20. This February and March, sounds from near and far will sound on the island’s west coast as invited musicians perform chamber music, violin and cello sounds and present new albums.
First up is a chamber music concert on Wednesday by the celebrated duo of cellist Robertas Grod and pianist Angeles Iglesias. The two musicians return to Technopolis 20 to present a dynamic programme that spans diverse musical styles and emotions.
More specifically, the evening’s repertoire features Zoltán Kodály’s Sonatina, a piece of lyrical charm and Hungarian folk influences; Giorgos Karvellos’ The Windows, a contemporary work infused with fresh perspectives; Franz Schubert’s Sonata in a minor, Arpeggione, a masterpiece of melancholic beauty and technical brilliance; and Astor Piazzolla’s Le Grand Tango, a fiery and passionate blend of classical music and Argentinian tango.

On March 4 a piano concert dedicated to music for four hands will take place at Markideio Theatre, organised by Technopolis 20. Musicians Andreas Karagiorgis and Marianna Georgiou, both from Paphos, will take the stage to bring to life the impressive Hungarian Dances by Brahms, Poulenc’s Sonata for Four Hands, as well as selected contemporary solo works. These include Sibelius’ Romance in D-flat Major and pieces from the collection Kinderlaunen by Nikolas Economou.
Back at the base of Technopolis 20, the venue will host two more Cypriot musicians on March 6 as they unveil their new albums. Nama Dama and Freedom Candlemaker will each take their floor presenting their new work.
Nama Dama will present her album Pagan Soul, showcasing her unique ability to blend the ethereal beauty of electronic folk with the explosive energy of pop. Performing solo, she will use live looping techniques to create a one-of-a-kind ritualistic atmosphere, taking the audience on a captivating journey.
Freedom Candlemaker will introduce his album Ageless, a work that explores spiritual liberation and the recognition of inner strength while deconstructing traditional notions of time and decay. His music merges psychedelic and atmospheric elements with nu-folk and electronic textures, crafting a sonic landscape that bridges inner exploration with contemporary musical trends.
Then, in mid-March, the Threads of Resonance concert will see the violin and cello duo of Demian Baraldi and Jakub Otcenasek performing live at Technopolis 20 on March 16. The concert will bring to life three remarkable pieces for violin and cello by Arthur Honegger, Bohuslav Martinů and Pēteris Vasks. Together, the pieces will highlight the expressive range and beauty of the string duo, offering another night of musical brilliance.
