A civil servant, who had been off work for years due to health issues, returned to work on Wednesday and assaulted his supervisor.
Paphos police are investigating malicious damage, assault and disturbance of peace against the 41-year-old civil servant, who was arrested shortly after the incident.
Paphos police deputy head of operations Michalis Nicolaou said the suspect was reported to have returned to his duties at 8am on Wednesday after many years of absence for health-related reasons.
On being told of the duties he was expected to carry out, the suspect reportedly assaulted his supervisor and caused damage to government property.
Also in Paphos, a disagreement between post office attendants turned into a fight, resulting in a female employee reporting that a male colleague had pulled her by the hair.
By the time the police arrived, the male employee had fled the scene, according to Reporter.
