The finance ministry announced on Friday that it will reopen the electronic service for the national solidarity fund’s compensation scheme in the second half of 2025. This service, which is designed to compensate affected depositors and bondholders, will give additional time for eligible individuals to submit their applications online.

In a statement released today, the ministry explained that the decision to reopen the service was made “in response to requests from affected individuals” who were unable to submit their applications by the original deadline of May 25, 2024.

The extension aims to provide a fair opportunity for all those still wishing to apply.

The ministry clarified that individuals who submitted requests after the 2024 deadline, will need to resubmit their electronic applications once the service reopens. This will allow their applications to undergo the necessary evaluation, just like those submitted before the May deadline.

Further details on the reopening of the service will be announced at a later stage.

The electronic service for applications was initially available from December 20, 2023, to April 30, 2024, and was extended from May 14 to May 25, 2024.

Finance Minister Makis Keravnos recently stated that compensation payments to eligible individuals are expected to begin towards the end of the first half of this year. The current reserve of the national solidarity fund stands at €260 million, with further funds anticipated to cover the scheme’s costs.

As the ministry prepares to reopen the service, it remains committed to ensuring that all eligible parties receive their due compensation, with the process continuing smoothly into the second half of 2025.
