Parents teamed up on Tuesday following a complaint by a 16-year-old teenage girl who said she was sexually harassed by her school bus driver in Larnaca.

Speaking to CyBC radio, Larnaca parents’ confederation president Costas Costa called for an immediate investigation into the case.

The 60-year-old bus driver was arrested on Monday following allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards the student.

The school bus driver has been suspended until the investigation of the case is completed.

On Tuesday the Larnaca district court remanded him in police custody for three days.

According to sources, the driver had been making inappropriate verbal remarks to the girl since January. The incidents reportedly took place inside the school bus, which she regularly used.

The matter came to light after the girl informed her school administration.

Her parents then filed an official complaint with the police, leading to the investigation.
