A person needed to be extricated from a vehicle overnight in Nicosia, the fire service said on Friday.

Fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis said the person was trapped after a collision on Kyrenia Avenue in the Platy area of Aglandjia.

The incident happened shortly after 11pm and Nicosia fire stations responded with a team and a rescue vehicle after the driver of the car crashed into a parking lot wall and came to a standstill.

The person was transferred by ambulance to the Nicosia General Hospital’s emergency department.

In total, over the last 24 hours, the fire department responded to 36 incidents, 14 fires and 22 special services, Kettis said.
