Commissioner for Children’s Rights Despo Michalidou delivered her annual report to President Nikos Christodoulides on Friday, outlining a rise in problems affecting children on the island.

Michaelidou said that included in her reports were complaints received by her office about the functioning of schools, including acceptance of non-Cypriot students, disciplinary matters, expulsions and exams.

Additionally, the incidents reported to her concerned the provision of school assistants for children with special learning needs, and a lack of other provisions to ease children’s school lives.

Christodoulides listened to the Commissioner’s findings and requested further information, stating that all matters would be diligently examined.
