Tourism revenue in Cyprus experienced a significant rise in April 2025, reaching €304.2 million according to the latest results from the passengers survey conducted by the state statistical service.

This represents a 39.9 per cent increase compared to April 2024, when revenue stood at €217.4 million.

The stastitistical service also reported that tourists from Lebanon, Switzerland and the United States topped the spending charts.


Eurobank on Tuesday announced the development of a day care centre for people with disabilities over the age of 21, along with two independent living residences for adults with autism.

According to the announcement, the €2 million project will be implemented in collaboration with the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare as part of Eurobank Group’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.

The aim of the project, the bank said, is to enhance existing care services by offering structured support to people with disabilities through modern, specialised facilities and trained staff.


The Bank of Cyprus has achieved its 2025 real estate target months ahead of schedule, completing over €200 million in property sales within just a few weeks, including the largest transaction ever recorded in the Cypriot market.

As mentioned in Economy Today, the bank’s Real Estate Management Unit (REMU) recently finalised the high-profile sale of the Secret Valley resort in Paphos, formerly known as Venus Rock Golf Resort, for more than €130 million.

The property, which spans roughly five million square metres of prime coastal land, was REMU’s largest asset and had come under the bank’s control following the loan restructuring of the Aristo Developers group.


Cyprus recorded an 18 per cent rise in ship registrations in 2023, the highest annual increase since the Shipping Deputy Ministry’s creation in 2018, driven by expanded global services and efforts to build closer ties with shipowners.

In a televised interview aired on the Greek Parliament channel as part of the programme Ellines Ainaftes, Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanolis highlighted how trust, direct communication, and state support have helped position Cypriot shipping as a resilient and dynamic pillar of the country’s economy.

Appointed by president Nikos Christodoulides in 2023, Hadjimanolis became the third head of the ministry since its founding.

The Index of Industrial Output Prices in Cyprus reached 122.9 units in May 2025, based on 2021 as the reference year set at 100 units, according to a report from the state statistical service.

This marked an increase of 0.7 per cent compared to April 2025, the report mentioned, however, when compared with May 2024, the index fell by 0.2 per cent.

Over the first five months of 2025, the index showed a cumulative decrease of 0.2 per cent compared to the same period in 2024.

Cypriot real estate analytics firm Ask Wire has secured third place at the 15th Innovation and Technology Competition of the NBG Business Seeds programme.

Awarded for its real estate data platform, the firm also won a cash prize of €8,000.

The platform, designed to support real estate professionals, banks and insurers with reliable, transparent data, was selected among dozens of proposals.


The entrepreneurial spotlight turns to Cyprus this Friday, July 5, as ten local startups prepare to compete at the Startup World Cup 2025 Regional Finals, taking place at BrainRocket in Limassol.

The winning team will go on to represent Cyprus at the Grand Finale in San Francisco, where they will pitch for a chance to win $1 million in investment funding.

The Bank of Cyprus (BoC) on Tuesday announced that, as of June 30, 2025, its total issued share capital stood at 440,828,633 ordinary shares.

Of these, 5,142,602 shares are held as treasury shares following the completion of its recently-concluded buyback programme.

According to the announcement, each share carries a nominal value of €0.10 and entitles its holder to one voting right.


The global maritime community will once again converge in Limassol this October for the Maritime Cyprus Conference 2025, a flagship event for the international shipping industry, held under the theme ‘Unlocking the Future …of Shipping’.

Organised by the Deputy Ministry of Shipping, in collaboration with the Cyprus Shipping Chamber (CSC) and the Cyprus Shipowners’ Association, the three-day conference will take place from October 6 to 8, 2025 at the Parklane Resort and Spa Hotel.

More than 1,000 shipping professionals are expected to attend.
