Consumer satisfaction with internet services in Cyprus remained high in 2025, a survey conducted by the Communications Commissioner showed on Tuesday.

The questionnaire, prepared by the commissioner’s market observatory team, surveyed 1,201 individuals – 801 from urban areas and 400 from rural – between July 30 and August 8.

Satisfaction with permanent internet services reached 8.3 out of ten this year, a slight increase of 0.1 from 2024.

However, satisfaction with the quality and price of the service dropped by 0.1 from the 7.6 out of ten compared to the previous three years.

The survey found that 80 per cent of respondents were unaware of their internet performance details as specified in provider agreements, marking a four per cent increase from last year.

Specifically, 50 per cent did not know their download speed, and 62 per cent were unaware of their upload speed.

Despite this, the proportion of users who do not measure their internet performance fell significantly, from eight in ten in previous years to six in ten this year.

Consumers rated their satisfaction with upload and download speeds, as well as network response time, at 7.9 out of ten, and overall reliability at 8.1 out of ten.

Among users, 88 per cent primarily accessed the internet via wireless connections (wifi), and 78 per cent used mobile phones as their main devices for internet access.

The survey also revealed that 29 per cent of users experienced a complete loss of service at least once per month, while 24 per cent never experienced such outages.

Of those reporting poor connection, ten per cent noticed issues most frequently between 8pm and 10pm, and 82 per cent identified ongoing operational problems as the main cause.

Despite that, satisfaction with providers’ handling of complaints improved to 7.5 out of ten, compared to 7.4 in the previous two years.

The primary reasons consumers switched providers were cheaper rates at 35 per cent, poor network quality at 30 per cent, and increases in fixed service costs at 17 per cent.
