All set with a new eventful agenda, the Rialto Theatre has announced its April performances. Limassol, it is time to get ready for classical music and hymns, remarkable plays from London’s National Theatre, an anticipated film festival and a celebration for International Jazz Day.
Opening the month’s programme is a concert just in time for Easter. Rutter: Requiem is the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s Easter concert that echoes the lyrical themes of life and death with John Rutter’s Requiem and Mozart’s Exsultate, jubilate, K.165.
Joining the Orchestra musicians on April 2 is the Georgian conductor Levan Jagaev, the distinguished sopranos Mariza Anastasiades and Eleni Charalambous, as well as the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra Choir.
Two days later, on April 4, the National Theatre Live will travel to the Rialto Theatre’s big screen for a screening of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Directed by Robert Hastie, this production is a sharp, stylish and darkly funny reimagining of Hamlet. Bringing Shakespeare’s famous tragedy to life is an outstanding cast, including Olivier Award-winner Hiran Abeysekera (Life of Pi) as Hamlet and Francesca Mills, who won the Ian Charleson Award in 2024, as Ophelia.
After a break for the Easter holidays, the programme resumes with the Cyprus Film Days International Festival 2026 from April 17 to 25. Back for its 24th edition, artistic directors Argyro Nicolaou and Petros Charalambous present a curated line-up with premieres of award-winning films, international and local film screenings and competitions as well as a rich programme of parallel events.

As always, the Dot.on.the.Map Industry Days will also take place as part of the festival. This is a co-production, training and networking platform that fosters collaboration between producers, directors and screenwriters from the Mediterranean region and professionals from the international film industry, led by Danae Stylianou.
Additionally, the 11th Cyprus Film Days for Children and Youth, under the artistic direction of Athena Xenidou, will offer workshops and screenings for children and young cinephiles.
Wrapping up April’s events at Rialto Theatre is the Chunky Funky & Soulful Groove Col concert on April 30. On the occasion of International Jazz Day, celebrated worldwide every year on April 30, the concert will offer a contemporary musical experience dedicated to the many expressions of modern jazz.
The performance brings together on stage two contemporary and creative ensembles: Chunky Funky and Soulful Groove Collective. Together, they will highlight the vitality and creative energy that define today’s jazz scene.
