Thirty six unique stories come to life in the second group exhibition EGGspression 26 by XeniArtSpace Gallery. Running until May 2, the showcase invites the public into an immersive experience where art intersects with symbolism and personal expression.

Bringing together 36 established artists living and creating in Cyprus, their creations demonstrate how even the simplest form, the egg, can become an endless source of creativity. Each artist started with the same handcrafted ceramic egg, made from traditional red clay, a material deeply connected to Cyprus’ long-standing ceramic heritage.

From this common starting point, each artist reinterprets this timeless symbol, turning it into a unique piece of art and a vessel for individual artistic expression.

The exhibition concept, inspired by XeniArtSpace founder Xenia Kulbachevskaya, is rooted in freedom of interpretation and the diversity of creative voices, as the 36 artists approach the universal symbol of the egg through their own distinct perspectives.

Kulbachevskaya says that each time artists and visitors return to EGGspression they rediscover the power of simplicity. The same form, the egg, leads to entirely different expressions, which is what makes the exhibition truly unique. It is not only about the artworks, she explains, but about the encounter of people, ideas and emotions unfolding before our eyes.

The egg stands as one of humanity’s oldest and most universal symbols. Across different cultures and mythologies, it has long been associated with rebirth, transformation and the eternal cycle of life, symbolising the start of creation and the promise of growth.

At the same time, it reflects a delicate balance between fragility and strength. As both a protective shell and a vessel of potential, it embodies a powerful duality: vulnerable yet resilient, simple in form yet profoundly rich in meaning.

The exhibition goes beyond mere observation, inviting visitors to actively participate. Guests are encouraged to choose and vote for the artwork that they feel most connected to, turning the exhibition into a dynamic dialogue between artists and audience.

Through this process, the voice of the audience takes on a central role, as the Visitors’ Choice Award is presented to the artwork that stands out. A further innovation of this year’s exhibition is the introduction of three monetary awards for participating artists – €5,000 for first place, €3,000 for second, and €1,000 for third – offering meaningful recognition and creative motivation.
