The municipality of Strovolos warned parliamentary candidates and property owners on Friday about the illegal placement of election banners and advertising structures within its boundaries ahead of the parliamentary elections.
The municipality said that candidates have placed banners on building facades, fences, poles and other locations without the required permits.
“All billboards and advertising materials within the municipality must be licensed in accordance with the law, including those placed on private buildings,” it reminded.
The municipality said unauthorised installations damage the city’s aesthetics and may create road safety risks.
Owners and responsible persons were called on to remove illegal structures immediately.
It warned that otherwise the municipality will proceed with removals and issue out-of-court fines to offenders and property owners where such materials are displayed.
