Two people were arrested for allegedly swearing at police and nine were fined for failing to abide by coronavirus measures during a protest on Sunday afternoon, police said on Monday.

Another person was fined for traffic violations.

More than 200 demonstrators met at the GSP stadium and drove to near the presidential palace at around 4pm to protest the Covid-19 measures.

The protest was held against the health ministry’s decree banning large demonstrations, one of a series of measures aimed at containing the spread of the virus.

The people were fined for failing to wear a face mask.

Two individuals were arrested after allegedly swearing at the police officers when they told them they were breaking the measures.

Police are continuing the investigations to identify more people who participated in the protest.
