Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides will head to Madrid on Monday ahead of the Med 9 minister’s meeting that will take place in the autumn.

In this context, the ministers of external and European affairs will exchange views on what the Covid 19 pandemic has taught and will evaluate the way the EU tackled the pandemic.

Moreover, the impact of the war in Ukraine against the backdrop of the Russian invasion and its knock-on effects like the food crisis, energy supply and other will also be discussed.

In addition, ways of reinforcing the EU’s corporate policy in its southern neighbourhood as means of securing prosperity, stability and environmental sustainability of the region will be discussed as well. Views will be exchange on the EU’s migration and asylum pact also.

The minister will hold a bilateral meeting with Spanish foreign minister Jose Manuel Albares Bueno, with whom they will review the Cyprus issue and other relevant European and bilateral matters of common interest.

On Tuesday evening, Kasoulides will head to London where he is set to speak at an event in the House of Commons, on Wednesday, organised by the cross-party parliamentary group of Cyprus in collaboration with the UK’s Cypriot national federation.

During his stay in London, Kasoulides will be hosted by the speaker of the house of commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle.
