Paphos police announced on Thursday the arrest of a 24-year-old man suspected of involvement in multiple thefts and burglaries in the district between October and November this year.

The investigation began after a company director reported that his car was stolen from an open parking space on October 27. The vehicle was recovered a few days later within the Paphos district.

On November 2, a resident reported encountering a man near his machinery storage area around 4am.

The suspect was holding a machine battery and, upon being confronted, threatened the resident with a knife before fleeing with the stolen battery. The victim also reported the theft of nine additional batteries and 2,000 litres of oil that same night.

The suspect is further believed to be connected to two restaurant burglaries reported on November 18, during which electrical appliances and cash were stolen.

Witness testimony led police to identify the 24-year-old, who was arrested on Wednesday.
