The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) on Thursday dismissed claims of delays in installing air conditioning units in public schools, attributing setbacks to a lack of coordination among those involved in the project.
“It appears that there is no proper coordination between those involved – electricians, surveyors and school boards – as problems continue to crop up,” the EAC said in a statement.
It insisted that there were “no loose ends or any delay on behalf of the EAC.”
The EAC said problems had to do with “incomplete electrical plans, checks being arranged without the necessary construction work being completed – thus valuable time is lost – equipment not being installed according to the set standards and insufficient response from electricians.”
The EAC reaffirmed its commitment to assisting the education ministry in completing the installation as soon as possible. It emphasised that schools remain a priority and noted that a project coordinator has been appointed in each region to ensure progress.
