The Limassol District Court has issued a six-day detention order for a 22-year-old man suspected of involvement in two separate bombing incidents — one at a bar and another targeting a vehicle.

According to Limassol CID, evidence has emerged linking the suspect to an explosion at a bar in Zakaki on May 29, as well as a car bombing that occurred the following day.

The bar bombing is already under investigation involving four minors — two 17-year-olds, a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old — who were initially arrested in connection with a bakery robbery on June 8. They remain in custody.

The robbery had taken place in the early hours of Sunday morning, with two men having entered the bakery, which is located in Limassol’s Havouza neighbourhood, at around 2am.

One of the pair was holding a knife, and, according to a bakery employee and a member of the public who witnessed the incident, was speaking in the Cypriot Greek dialect.

The pair grabbed the bakery’s till, which contained around €500 in cash at the time, and fled the scene.

The 22-year-old appeared in court on Thursday morning and is being held on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a felony and attempted property destruction using explosives. Police investigations are ongoing.
