Liverpool confirmed on Tuesday that Mohamed Salah will leave the club at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, bringing an end to a nine-year spell at Anfield.

The Egyptian forward announced his departure in a video shared on social media, with Liverpool echoing the message, adding that a formal farewell to celebrate his legacy will take place later this year.

“Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will leave Liverpool after the end of the season,” Salah said.

“I could never have imagined how big a part of my life this club and its friends would become. Liverpool is not just a team. It is passion, history. It cannot be explained in words.”

Salah reflected on his time at the club, emphasising the support of his teammates and fans.

“We celebrated many victories together, we won the most important trophies and we fought in difficult times. I want to thank everyone who was in the team while I was here, especially my teammates, past and present. I have no words. The support you gave was enormous. You stood by me in the most difficult moments. I will never forget it. Leaving is never easy, I lived my best years here. I will always be one of you. This club is everything to me and to my family. I will never walk alone.”

Salah joined Liverpool in 2017 from Roma for a reported 42 million euros.

Over nine seasons, he made 435 appearances, scoring 255 goals and providing 122 assists.

He played a key role in some of Liverpool’s most notable successes in recent years, including two Premier League titles, a Champions League triumph, an FA Cup and a League Cup.

He also set numerous club records, establishing himself as one of the most prolific forwards in Liverpool’s history.
