The Cyprus Tour Guides Association will stage a protest demonstration outside the Deputy Ministry of Tourism at 11.00 on Friday.
According to an official announcement, the mobilisation has been organised due to growing concerns within the sector.
The association stated that tour guides are focusing on three critical issues affecting the profession, namely illegal guided tours, supervision of archaeological sites, and controls at crossing points.
“It is imperative to proceed with this protest in combination with the wave of cancellations that many tour guides are facing due to the situation in our region,” the association said.
Relatedly, Cyprus hoteliers have warned of a sharp slowdown in bookings for April and May due to Middle East instability.
While summer reservations remain stable, a lack of new European and Israeli bookings has prompted calls for state support for staff. Industry leaders hope for a recovery as regional flights potentially resume.
At the same time, Akel leader Stefanos Stefanou has urged the government to protect Cyprus’ tourism industry amid regional conflict.
He proposed enhancing air connectivity, launching targeted international safety campaigns, and establishing permanent domestic tourism support.
Stefanou also highlighted the need to assist seasonal workers facing employment delays due to weakened early-season bookings.
