Conservation works at the Apostolos Andreas Monastery in Rizokarpaso are progressing on schedule, according to officials following an on-site inspection by project partners on Thursday.
Representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and members of the advisory body of the technical committee on cultural heritage visited the site during March to assess ongoing restoration activities.
Discussions with technical experts confirmed that the works are advancing steadily and remain fully aligned with the project’s timeline and requirements.
In a statement, those involved said the inspection focused on evaluating construction progress and ensuring compliance with conservation standards.
“Activities are advancing steadily and remain fully aligned with the project schedule and technical requirements,” officials said.

The Apostolos Andreas Monastery, located in the Karpas peninsula, is one of the most significant religious and cultural landmarks on the island.
Restoration efforts are aimed at preserving its structural integrity while maintaining its historical and architectural character.
Thursday’s inspection forms part of regular monitoring procedures designed to ensure that conservation works meet international standards.
Technical teams continue to oversee the process, focusing on both preservation quality and adherence to agreed timelines.
The project reflects ongoing cooperation between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot stakeholders under the Technical Committee, with international support aimed at safeguarding shared cultural heritage.
Officials said such initiatives contribute to confidence-building measures while protecting historically significant sites for future generations.
